The “strong smell” of marijuana was reported inside the Capitol building Wednesday morning, Russell Haythorn of 7NEWS confirmed, reports Anica Padilla. The entire Senate chamber smelled like cannabis, according to Doug Schepman, communications director for the Senate Democrats.
“It wasn’t like a car just passing by and catching a whiff,” Schepman said. “It was bad.” (Hey, Doug, I think you mean “good.”)
“Do you smell marijuana in here, or is it just me?” Senate President John Morse asked the lawmakers during their session, getting a big laugh.
“If the Sergeants would please douse all doobies in the area,” Morse can be heard saying on a recording of the morning’s proceedings.
Nobody has yet come forward to claim responsibility for blazing the weed.
