Federal agents have reportedly returned to seize more assets Bayside Collective, a medical marijuana dispensary in Olympia, Washington, for the second day in a row.
Speculation in the marijuana community immediately centered around the possibility that Bayside’s employees speaking out Wednesday, in the immediate aftermath of the first raid (see Hemp News), was a factor in the second raid happening.
“The feds are back!” employee Addy Norton posted on Bayside Gardens’ Facebook page at 4:41 p.m. Pacific time on Thursday. Three minutes later, she posted “THERE TAKING OUR HOUSE WHY! I NEED HELP,” then seconds later, posted “IM LOCKED AT BAYSIDE BY MYSELF THE FEDS ARE TAKING MY HOUSE BOAT AS WE SPEAK THEY CANT DO THAT I NEED HELP SOMEONE HELP ME STOP THEM PLZ.”
Four minutes later, at 4:48 p.m., she posted, “THIS IS ADDY AND I NEED SERIOUS HELP RIGHT NOW WE HAVE NO ATTORNY AND IM LOCKED IN BAYSIDE PLEASE I HAVE NO PHONE NUMBERS PLEASE.”
Then at 4:52 p.m., “PLEASE SOMEONE COME DOWN TO BAYSIDE I NEED A RIDE TO OUR BOAT THAT IS MY HOUSE THE FEDS ARE TAKEING EVERYTHING WE HAVE AGAIN.”
After Wednesday’s raid, Norton said DEA agents had seized personal cell phones of dispensary workers, along with about $2,500 worth of marijuana, but left computers and about $1,000 in cash behind.
The agents took 16 marijuana plants off the shelves, according to Bayside employee Casey Lee, along with edible cannabis products and paperwork.
“Thank you everyone for ALL of your support and love,” Norton had posted on Bayside’s Facebook page immediately after yesterday’s raid. “We have no Meds, but we still have our dignity and we aren’t going anywhere.”
“We are still open!” she posted. “We may not have meds at the moment but we are still open! They will not keep us down!”
“Things are going to be hell for you,” one of the DEA agents said, according to Lee. “This is your second raid and your third robbery. Why do you keep doing this?”
“I just told him it’s because we just enjoy helping people, and he told us that he wasn’t expecting that answer,” Lee said.
