It’s something of a duel of April holidays. Both Easter and 4/20, which is more and more becoming National Cannabis Day, have their followings, of course. But marijuana is now on track to replace Peeps as April’s favorite treat, industry specialists New Frontier Data announced on Sunday.Love ’em or hate ’em, Peeps definitely have their following. April 2016 saw $127,400,000 in nationwide sales.
The same month saw $125,640,765 in adult-use cannabis sales in Colorado and Washington state. With more legal states coming aboard this year, maybe it doesn’t take a statistician to see what’s going to happen.
“In 2017, we expect cannabis to become the new April favorite,” New Frontier announced in a Sunday news release.
“With adult use sales now active in Oregon and Alaska, and strong medical cannabis sales in states including California, Michigan, Arizona, and Nevada, legal access cannabis sales this 4/20 season are on track to well exceed Peeps sales nationwide,” the data specialists concluded. In our scientifically unsupported opinion, weed is probably good for Peeps sales. It certainly doesn’t hurt to be baked when you’re trying to eat those weird marshmallowy things, am I right??
